Dental or Oral Surgery Explained

Dental or Oral surgery is commonly performed to remove wisdom teeth, prepare the mouth for dentures, repair jaw problems and perform root canals. They may treat tooth abscesses and other infections of the mouth, cancer of the oral cavity, and remove teeth to prepare the patient for dentures.

 There are a wide variety of procedures that are considered oral surgery, but the most common are done to treat tooth pain and often include extractions. Dental implants are typically placed by oral surgeons, who may also perform cosmetic procedures to improve the appearance of the teeth and smile.
